On 2 and 3 November 2026, the Italian Days on Higher Education will bring together 20 Italian higher education institutions in Buenos Aires, offering Argentine students the opportunity to explore study opportunities in Italy first-hand. The initiative is made possible through close cooperation with the Embassy of Italy in Buenos Aires and the generous support of the Argentine Ministry, while also highlighting the role of Italian schools abroad within the Italian Education System Abroad.
The Italian Days on Higher Education (IDOHE), country-focused events organised by Uni-Italia in cooperation with Italy’s diplomatic and consular network, arrive in Buenos Aires, bringing an initiative dedicated to promoting the Italian higher education system and providing guidance to students to South America for the first time.
Taking place on 2 and 3 November 2026, the Argentine event is the second stop on Uni-Italia’s South American mission, following the IDOHE in São Paulo on 31 October. The initiative aims to bring Argentine students closer to the educational opportunities offered by Italy, fostering direct engagement with Italian institutions and enabling students and families to learn more about the range of study pathways available.
The main IDOHE event will take place on 2 November at Palacio Sarmiento, the headquarters of the Secretaría de Educación within the Argentine Ministry of Human Capital. The Ministry has generously offered to host the Italian delegation, providing the venue for a full day of meetings and promotional activities. This commitment by the Argentine authorities is a tangible sign of their openness to dialogue and educational cooperation between the two countries.
In the presence of Italy’s Ambassador to Argentina, Fabrizio Nicoletti, and representatives of the Argentine authorities, the event will bring together the 20 participating Italian institutions for networking opportunities and sessions presenting Italy’s educational offer to students and families. The range of participating institutions will provide a broad overview of the opportunities available in Italy, spanning different academic disciplines and higher education pathways.
The initiative is also made possible by the coordination and support of the Embassy of Italy in Buenos Aires and the wider diplomatic network. Their contribution is instrumental in strengthening relations with local authorities, engaging key stakeholders in the education sector and creating meaningful opportunities for direct interaction between Italian institutions and Argentine audiences.
The participation of such a significant number of institutions reflects the Italian higher education system’s interest in Argentina, a country with a large population of Italian heritage and deep historical, cultural and linguistic ties with Italy.
The IDOHE programme will continue on 3 November, with a day dedicated to engagement with the school community. The Italian delegation will meet students at the Scuola Italiana Cristoforo Colombo and present study opportunities in Italy at the Centro Cultural Italiano Alessandro Manzoni. Engaging with these institutions helps bring students closer to higher education providers and makes the transition from school to university and further study in Italy more tangible.
This initiative forms part of a broader commitment to promoting Italian schools abroad as a strategic component of the Italian Education System Abroad (SFIM), fostering stronger continuity between school education and higher education pathways. This is also an important element of the vision of Uni-Italia’s President, Prof. Francesco Profumo, who recognises the contribution of Italian educational institutions abroad to the international profile of Italy’s education system.
The South American experience thus demonstrates the ability of the IDOHE initiative to adapt to different international contexts and create new opportunities for cooperation between institutions, the diplomatic network, schools and the academic community. It is a shared effort to make study opportunities in Italy more widely known and accessible, while strengthening educational and cultural ties between the two countries.
